ARTIST STATEMENT: Actualizing an idea or concept is the basis by which art exists. My work is a constant search to represent experiences and ideas about myself and the world in which I exist. I am not limited to one style, medium or idea. Each piece that I create lends itself to addressing topical contemporary issues ranging from identity to gender equality to mental health. Ever since I was a teenager, I have been fascinated by the unrelenting views of people whether influenced by history, race, belief systems or perception. Creating emotional interpretations of art from themes of my life experiences allows me to explore, colour, mediums and compositions when completing a work of art. I am filled with joy when I can capture what I feel, my thoughts and my vision as I execute my final stroke.
